To be a winemaker is to seek and refine all his life the methods that best express the place of origin of his wine. Each place gives rise to a certain "technical path". Each decision of the winemaker is like a cross that can make him take the right road or the bad. And in this regard, the shortcuts do not exist: in general, when a wrong decision is made, it catches up with difficulty. So, to find the right path for each place is to look for the "resolution" of the terroir, like an enigma whose solution we would try to find. The "resolution" is simply to allow the terroir to express itself without hindrance. It is in this schema, and only in this one, that the wine finds its truth, its brilliance, its homogeneity, this intimate logic which is expressed throughout its life.
Origin Saint Cosme
On a naturally favorable site, 77 plots of vines are scattered within a vast area of 500 hectares on the mountainside.
They form here and there small terraces facing the Sainte-Victoire mountain. The vine has been cultivated there for several centuries.
Patiently, in harmony with nature and the woods that surround him, man walks the paths to cultivate the vine where it gives him the best grapes.
The terroir is that of the new Sainte Victoire appellation, an ecosystem naturally favorable to vines since Roman times. Château Grand Boise is the highest estate there, with vines between 300 and 640 meters.
The combination of altitude with good sunshine makes it possible to obtain wines of great freshness and great balance. No chemical fertilizers or weedkillers are used. The known origins of
La Grand'Boise as a domain dates back to 1610, the date of the oldest property deed found. It was in 1879 that the three estates (Grand'Boise, Cabassude and Les Brunets) united to form one. Traditionally family owned, the estate only changed hands three times in its entire history. Under the impetus of its new owner, a passionate doctor, the estate has very recently been thoroughly renovated. It has equipped itself with efficient and qualitative technical means. The olive-growing activity is revived with 800 olive trees on 3 hectares.
COTE ROTIE STEPHANE OGIER 2019
Rooted in Ampuis for many generations, this family has always worked in the Côte-Rôtie vineyard. By taking over from his father Michel in 1998, he chose to do specific work on his different terroirs in order to reveal the uniqueness of these places full of history.
Côte-Blonde, But de Mont, Lancement, Côte-Rôzier, Champon, Besset ... this vineyard is rich in a mosaic of plots located in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie whose soil diversity and the northernmost climate of the Valley du Rhône gives the wines an incredible finesse. As close as possible to the vineyard, it strives to reveal the typical elegance of this appellation. The range he offers is therefore faithful to his roots and represents, for him, the culmination of a long history and fascinating daily work.

What a vintage in Cote Rotie! It has been a long time since I had obtained such wines. When you taste all the barrels and everything is great, it's like visualizing the color palette that a painter will use. The different localities express themselves in such a precise and beautiful way that you wonder if you are not on the greatest terroir in the world. The mica schists are capable in 2019 of producing a finesse imbued with charm and mystery, the wines exude wild blackberry, pencil lead, smoked ham, iodine: pure magic. Then on the palate, the textured sweetness blends with the natural freshness of serine when it is grown in its northern limit. This 2019 is not to be missed under any circumstances as it evokes its glorious predecessors of 1991, 1999 and 2007. I set out to discover the Cote Rotie in 1997: after 24 vintages of practice in this wonderful terroir, I believe that the slightly warmer vintages (like 2019) are fine here. Moreover, it suffices to refer to the primary and literal meaning of “Cote-Rôtie” to be convinced of this.

PAUL APRIL
Grapes Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah
Area: 29 hectares.
Details Domain: Pioneer of the bottling on the property, the Avril family owns a domain, which despite its name of clos can rely on almost all the geological natures composing the appellation. She knows how to play this diversity and thus appears as one of the most regular wines, whatever the vintage.
Cellar storage: The best vintages usually require 5 8 years to flourish and are suitable for a very long guard.
Since 1996, the venerable Maison Delas Frères, whose roots go back to 1835, has regained the soul and sparkle that have contributed to its fame.
Under the impetus of the new management, numerous investments were made on the Saint-Jean-de-Muzols production site, near Tournon-sur-Rhône.
A motivated team proudly participates in the qualitative renewal of this Grande Maison in the Rhône Valley: a vat room specially designed for the vinification of red wines, the complete restructuring of the aging cellar are among the key elements of the House's quality approach. Delas, summed up in one sentence: to perpetuate and sublimate the expression of the Terroir.
On this AOC, located at the northern end of the Rhône Valley, the very famous cuvée "La Landonne" from Delas Frères (100% Syrah) is a plot selection whose production hardly exceeds 2.500 bottles per vintage, exclusively in the great years.Winegrower in Ampuis
CHATEAU DE PIBARNON RED BANDOL 2019
Grape variety 90% MOURVEDRE - 10% GRENACHE
The vines dominate the valley, facing the sea, hanging from restanques to restanques, up to 300 m in altitude, on these slopes forming a vast circus sheltered from the mistral. The high altitude of the vineyard is worth cool nights and slow ripening of the grapes. The Château de Pibarnon vineyard is planted on very old Triassic soil, characterized by a very high level of limestone. This limestone promotes the appearance of bouquets in wines, and allows the extraction of very fine and elegant tannins.
Grenache (70%), Syrah (20%), Cinsault (10%)
Clay-limestone.
Natural winemaking
Manual harvest sorted.
Maceration for 15 days in raw concrete vats.
Partially destemmed harvest.
