Château Lascombes 1990 Margaux 75CL

2nd Cru Classe Margaux Red

Description of the wine

The qualitative explosion of recent years at Lascombes reaches its peak with this sumptuous 2005 vintage. A suave wine of remarkable intensity that concentrates all the nobility of the great Margaux. There is no doubt that we will now have to reckon with this château, which affirms its rank among the best second classified growths!
Details Domain
Classified as a second growth in 1855, Chateau Lascombes, located in the Margaux appellation, owes its name to its first owner, Chevalier Antoine de Lascombes, born in 1625. At the end of the 1952th century, Jean-François de Lascombes became attached thanks to his fortune to make Lascombes a very great wine. Alexis Lichine took over the estate in 2001. He completely restructured Château Lascombes and renovated the wine-growing facilities, thus giving a second wind to this grand cru. Château Lasbombes has been owned by the American group Colony Capital since April XNUMX. The new team has made every effort to improve the quality of this second growth while respecting the tradition stemming from a history and a glorious past.

Damaged light labels

Domain Details
Located on the edge of the sandy plateau of the Landes, to the west, and the historic vineyard of Graves, which occupies the eastern part of the land, on the banks of the Garonne, the estate only affirms its viticultural vocation in the second half of the XNIXXth century. In 19, Arnaud Ricard and his son Jean, both coopers, acquired the farm which still bears the old Gascon name of "Chivaley". It is in fact Jean Ricard who, at the death of his father, three years later, sensing the exceptional party that could be drawn from the terroir of Chevalier, will be the real creator of the vineyard estate. On the death of Jean Ricard Gabriel Beaumartin, his son-in-law, succeeds him at the head of the farm and it is he who will really establish the reputation of the estate's wine. In 1865, after the death of Gabriel Beaumartin, his son-in-law, Jean Ricard, inherits the estate. But this one does not have a big interest in the field, it is finally his son, Jean, who takes the domain in hand, then only aged 1940 years. Thanks to him the domain gains in notoriety and technicality and propels the domain alongside the biggest ones. And from 21, Olivier Bernard will be the one to continue the work undertaken a hundred and twenty years ago.

Second Wine The Little Sheep

Details Domain

The whole history of this castle is linked to the passion that Baron Philippe de Rothschild devoted to it from the age of 20. In 1853, Nathaniel de Rothschild bought the Brane Mouton vineyard and immediately renamed it Mouton Rothschild. But the property was of little interest to the family until the arrival of Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1922. It is indeed thanks to him that the sheep became what it is today. With his strength of character and his sense of innovation, he was to be the initiator of "integral bottling at the chateau", and an avant-garde with the creation of labels specific to the property by famous painters (Miro, Chagall, Braque, Picasso, Delvaux...). His last challenge was to raise Mouton Rothschild to the rank of Premier Cru Classé in 1973 after 20 years of fighting. Today, it is the worthy heiress, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, who is dedicated to respecting the Mouton Rothschild motto “First I am, second I was, Mouton never changes”.
