After having restructured the vineyard and acquired new quality terroirs - the area of the vineyard increased from 35 to 48 hectares with the successive purchases of Château Haut-Milon, neighboring Mouton and Lafite, and the vines of Château Béhèré – demanding and reasoned cultivation practices have been introduced.

Castle PONTET CANET 2019

5 Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red
Grapes Cabernet Sauvignon 60% Cabernet Franc 5% Merlot 33% Petit Verdot 2%
Second Wine The Hauts de Pontet Canet

The wines of Pontet Canet have always belonged to the legend of Bordeaux. A deep ruby color where there are jammy notes of black fruits, prune, cedar, a lot of power and above all a perfect harmony. The wines of Pontet Canet have a rather muscular character, but it is a Fifth Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac very well balanced; The practice of biodynamics in the vineyard naturally gives us more and more pure wines. History of the Château The history of the château began at the beginning of the XIIIth century when Jean-François de Pontet gathered several parcels of vines from the village of Pauillac. Later, the family of Pontet acquires vines from the locality Canet, one of the largest estates of Médoc was born.

A century later, the 1855 classification recognizes the quality of this Pauillac vintage and the Fifth Grand Cru class. Herman Cruse, then a Bordeaux merchant, realizes the potential of Château Ponet-Canet and buys it from 1865. He made known this vintage and modernized the facilities and the winery, Pontet-Canet is therefore one of the great. It is in 1975 that the Cruse family finally separates from the castle, the charente merchant Guy Tesseron then bought it. We have a real example of sustainability with Pontet-Canet, only three owners in two centuries, a restructured vineyard and a sustainable approach with the recent arrival of organic and biodynamic practices.

It is now Alfred Tesseron who runs the estate, he is assisted by his niece, Melanie Tesseron, since 2005. Ground work is in the spotlight and prophylactic measures and manual labor in the vineyards have replaced chemical weed killers and pesticides. The goal is of course to obtain the purest raw material possible.
The meteoric rise of Château Pontet-Canet has been rewarded by critics. Indeed, Robert Parker consecutively awarded two perfect 100 / 100 grades for the 2009 and 2010 vintages.

high marbuzet 2017 75cl

CHATEAU HAUT MARBUZET 2017
Cru bourgeois Saint Estèphe Rouge

Grapes 50% Merlot 40% Cabernet Sauvignon 10% Cabernet Franc

First property of Sylvestre Fatin, the vineyards of Marbuzet are bought in 1818 by a family of Irish origin, the Mac Carthy. The estate's unity does not stand up to the many succession conflicts and in 1848 the Poissonnier family buys a lot of 7 hectares, the historic heart of the Haut-Marbuzet vineyard. For more than a hundred years the fishmonger manage the estate without it really emerges. Its rise is due to the Duboscq family and the first of them, Hervé Duboscq who acquires the property in 1952. An outstanding wine grower and a wise manager, he only needs a few years to bring the Château out of anonymity. In 1962 his son, Henri, joins the family business. Together, they buy neighboring parcels that used to belong to the Mac Carthy estate. Henri Duboscq now manages the estate with the same high standards of quality that makes Château Haut-Marbuzet one of Saint-Estèphe's greatest vintages.
Comments
The Haut-Marbuzet vineyard is scattered over some of the most beautiful reliefs of Saint-Estèphe. Slightly inclined, it enjoys an ideal exposure facing the Gironde. The main plot rests on a beautiful hilltop of deep gravel which ensures optimum drainage. The grape variety includes a high proportion of Merlot for the appellation. The wine draws from it an exceptional mellowness which distinguishes it from most of the wines of the appellation. Château Haut-Marbuzet is vinified in the traditional way. Aged in new barrels for 18 months, it develops a woody texture that is both unctuous and beautifully integrated with spice. A dense and distinguished fruit is relayed by beautiful ripe tannins. Charming and sensual in its youth, the wine gets closer to its terroir over time to display great finesse. This Cru Bourgeois certainly deserves to be among the elite of the Crus Classés.

tour of terms 2014 75 cl

TOUR OF TERMS SAINT ESTEPHE 2014

GRAPES: 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot

Château TOUR DES TERMES owes its name to an old tower located on a plot called "les Termes". The origin of this tower dates back to the Gallo-Roman era where the remains of boat moorings dating from this period favor the hypothesis of the presence of an old lighthouse at this location, thus marking the entrance to a front -port of the ancient Gallo-Roman city BRION located a few kilometers away. The name "of the Terms" would mean "the end of the lands". But the Château Tour des Termes is first and foremost the story of an old Médoc family who little by little, over the generations, has created this estate. As early as 1678, old parchments mention a certain ANNEY, a plowman in the town of POTENSAC in the Médoc. In 1876, his great-grandson became a winegrower in Saint-Estèphe then from generation to generation the estate grew until 1938 when Pierre ANNEY acquired the Château Tour des Termes with its old tower and a very beautiful smallholding in SaintCorbian where he settled permanently to produce his wine under the name of Tour des Termes. In 1979, his son Jean and his grandson Christophe perpetuated the family tradition by developing the vineyard and making significant investments in buildings and equipment as well as major plot selection efforts. Today, Château Tour des Termes is one of the best Crus Bourgeois of the appellation.

Chateau GRAND PUY LACOSTE 2020

5th Grand Cru classified Pauillac Red

Grapes 76% Cabernet Sauvignon 24% Merlot

Second Wine: Lacoste Borie

The history of Grand-Puy-Lacoste fascinates in more ways than one. It is part of a family saga that dates back to the XNUMXth century.

The name of Grand-Puy comes from the old expression "puy" which means "mound, small height", and this terroir is already mentioned in documents dating from the Middle Ages. Indeed the vineyard extends over one of the hilltops where the first growths of the Médoc were born. Since the 1920th century, the cru has been passed down from generation to generation and, through alliances between families, it remained within the same descendants until 1978, before resuming a family destiny with the Borie in XNUMX.
