With an exceptional aging capacity, it is a great wine that reveals itself over time ...
Products on 13 different terroirs, located on the right bank or on the left bank of the Serein, the Chablis Premiers Crus allow to discover and understand the great Kimmeridgian soils of Chablis. From vines planted on hillsides with beautiful south-west and south-east exposures, they all have their own personality that makes each wine unique. Some Premiers Crus are fine and mineral like the Montée de Tonnerre or the Côte de Léchet, the others are more tender and fruity like the Beauroy or floral and fleshy like the Fourchaume. For certain communal and regional appellations, Joseph Drouhin supplements his supply from long-time partner winegrowers, who share his requirements.
After a scientific training in biology, his winegrowing history begins with the chance of encounters, according to the internships and the various jobs he has held. Frédéric LEPRINCE knew that one day he would have a business of his own, but first he had to learn, discover, observe and do.
For about twenty years, he discovered all the facets of the profession. Vineyard work in Beaujolais vintages, the art of Bordeaux blend, purchase of grapes and vinification from great terroirs in Burgundy ... all these moments will be decisive in that each will bring their stone to their House, step by step.
Still marked by their spirit and their know-how, here are some decisive meetings of its first life.
Frédéric LEPRINCE settled for ten years in Nantoux, a small wine-growing village in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, where he had the chance to buy an old farmhouse, a heritage witness to a time not so distant 'we lived in near autarky in the heights. A barn transformed into a cellar, a cool cellar which was no doubt used to store vegetables, an old bread oven that warms the body and provides a little comfort after a hard day of harvesting ...

They are cut for keeping, but by their structure, they can be appreciated young.

Macon-Villages Joseph Drouhin 2022 75CL
With 80 hectares, Domaine Joseph Drouhin is one of the largest in the region. It is distributed throughout Burgundy: Chablis (38 hectares), Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, (38.5 hectares), Côte Chalonnaise (3.5 hectares), and comprises a majority of Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, planted of the two Burgundy grape varieties: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Location: Located in the south of Burgundy, near Pouilly-Fuissé, this vast terroir offers a diversity of wines with distinct characteristics thanks to the extent of its vineyard.
Type of soil: The soil, composed of clay and limestone from the Jurassic era, constitutes a particularly favorable terrain for Chardonnay.
The Chablis vineyard is one of the oldest in France. Over time and all over the world, its white wines, made from the Chardonnay grape variety, have acquired an extraordinary reputation. Distributed on both sides of the “Le Serein” river, the appellation's vines extend over 17 communes. The unique character of the wines is given by the soil, essentially of the “Kimmeridgian” type where sediments composed in particular of large quantities of small fossil ostrea virgula oysters were deposited.
