Castle PONTET CANET 2015
5 Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red
Grapes Cabernet Sauvignon 60% Cabernet Franc 5% Merlot 33% Petit Verdot 2%
Second Wine The Hauts de Pontet Canet

The wines of Pontet Canet have always belonged to the legend of Bordeaux. A deep ruby color where there are jammy notes of black fruits, prune, cedar, a lot of power and above all a perfect harmony. The wines of Pontet Canet have a rather muscular character, but it is a Fifth Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac very well balanced; The practice of biodynamics in the vineyard naturally gives us more and more pure wines. History of the Château The history of the château began at the beginning of the XIIIth century when Jean-François de Pontet gathered several parcels of vines from the village of Pauillac. Later, the family of Pontet acquires vines from the locality Canet, one of the largest estates of Médoc was born.

A century later, the 1855 classification recognizes the quality of this Pauillac vintage and the Fifth Grand Cru class. Herman Cruse, then a Bordeaux merchant, realizes the potential of Château Ponet-Canet and buys it from 1865. He made known this vintage and modernized the facilities and the winery, Pontet-Canet is therefore one of the great. It is in 1975 that the Cruse family finally separates from the castle, the charente merchant Guy Tesseron then bought it. We have a real example of sustainability with Pontet-Canet, only three owners in two centuries, a restructured vineyard and a sustainable approach with the recent arrival of organic and biodynamic practices.

It is now Alfred Tesseron who runs the estate, he is assisted by his niece, Melanie Tesseron, since 2005. Ground work is in the spotlight and prophylactic measures and manual labor in the vineyards have replaced chemical weed killers and pesticides. The goal is of course to obtain the purest raw material possible.
The meteoric rise of Château Pontet-Canet has been rewarded by critics. Indeed, Robert Parker consecutively awarded two perfect 100 / 100 grades for the 2009 and 2010 vintages.

Details Domain

The whole history of this castle is linked to the passion that Baron Philippe de Rothschild devoted to it from the age of 20. In 1853, Nathaniel de Rothschild bought the Brane Mouton vineyard and immediately renamed it Mouton Rothschild. But the property was of little interest to the family until the arrival of Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1922. It is indeed thanks to him that the sheep became what it is today. With his strength of character and his sense of innovation, he was to be the initiator of "integral bottling at the chateau", and an avant-garde with the creation of labels specific to the property by famous painters (Miro, Chagall, Braque, Picasso, Delvaux...). His last challenge was to raise Mouton Rothschild to the rank of Premier Cru Classé in 1973 after 20 years of fighting. Today, it is the worthy heiress, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, who is dedicated to respecting the Mouton Rothschild motto “First I am, second I was, Mouton never changes”.

After having restructured the vineyard and acquired new quality terroirs - the area of the vineyard increased from 35 to 48 hectares with the successive purchases of Château Haut-Milon, neighboring Mouton and Lafite, and the vines of Château Béhèré – demanding and reasoned cultivation practices have been introduced.

Château PICHON COMTESSE DE LALANDE 2019
2nd Classified Growth Pauillac Red
Grapes  Cabernet Sauvignon - Cabernet Franc - Merlot - Petit Verdot in different proportions depending on the vintage
Second Wine: The Countess' reserve

Details Domain
In the past, the Médoc was described as a wild and solitary region, an ungrateful and hostile land, invaded by marshes. The 1855th century will redraw the landscape when enterprising men will create the great wine properties of modern Médoc. The archives show the creation of the estate by Pierre de Mazure de Rauzan, a great name in the history of Bordeaux wines. It was during the marriage of his only daughter Thérèse to Jacques de Pichon-Longueville that the vineyard took its name. In the 2th century, the descendant of Pichon-Longueville, Virginie, married Count Henri de Lalande, and took over the management of the estate, which would henceforth take the name of Comtesse de Lalande. Thanks to her passion for wine, during the classification carried out under Napoleon III in 1925, she allowed Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande to reach the rank of XNUMXnd classified growth. However, after the First World War, the vineyard was transferred to Edouard and Louis Miailhe in XNUMX. It is now the daughter of Edouard Miailhe, owner and administrator of the chateau, who takes over the work of the Countess with a masterful hand.
The harvest is done manually. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with a heating and cooling system. The vatting time varies between 18 and 24 days depending on the year. After blending, the wine is put in new oak barrels (50%) for 18 to 22 months.
Terroir
South of Pauillac. Günz gravel on clay, with the presence of ferruginous sheets.

In 2007 Madame de Lencquesaing made the courageous decision to pass on her château to the Champagne house Louis Roederer. A decision that allows the estate to pursue its ambition of prestige and excellence.

Chateau GRAND PUY LACOSTE 2020

5th Grand Cru classified Pauillac Red

Grapes 76% Cabernet Sauvignon 24% Merlot

Second Wine: Lacoste Borie

The history of Grand-Puy-Lacoste fascinates in more ways than one. It is part of a family saga that dates back to the XNUMXth century.

The name of Grand-Puy comes from the old expression "puy" which means "mound, small height", and this terroir is already mentioned in documents dating from the Middle Ages. Indeed the vineyard extends over one of the hilltops where the first growths of the Médoc were born. Since the 1920th century, the cru has been passed down from generation to generation and, through alliances between families, it remained within the same descendants until 1978, before resuming a family destiny with the Borie in XNUMX.

Pauillac Red
Grapes  Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc

It is in 1853 that the Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild, from the English branch of the famous family of patrons and bankers, buys Château Brane Mouton in Pauillac, in the heart of the Medoc. He renamed it immediately Château Mouton Rothschild. From the union of these two magic names will be born a wine of legend.

In 1922, at the age of 20 years, Philippe de Rothschild (1902-1988), great-grandson of Baron Nathaniel, takes over the destinies of Mouton. Its decisions, starting with bottling at castlewill revolutionize Bordeaux's uses.
Over the years, he had the “Grand Chai” built, initiated the collection of artist labels, created the Musée du Vin dans l'Art, and obtained official Premier Cru Classé status for Château Mouton Rothschild. At the same time, he increased the family's wine heritage and in the early 1930s acquired a trading company, which would experience considerable development under its current name of Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA

In 1988, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild succeeded her father, Baron Philippe de Rothschild. With the charisma and energy that characterize her, soon effectively supported by her two sons Philippe and Julien, she always shines more light on the glory of Mouton Rothschild, without forgetting of course the other great family Châteaux wines: Armailhac and Clerc Milon in Pauillac, Opus One in California, Almaviva in Chile, Domaine de Baron'Arques in Pays d'Oc.

President of Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA who manages these properties, she assigns the same ambition of excellence, in their category, to a set of wines of brands from the best appellations, created and distributed throughout the world by the Family Company.

The origin of the name comes from the Plateau des Carruades, place name of a set of parcels adjoining the rump of the castle and acquired in 1845 by Château Lafite. In the 19th century, Carruades wines were marketed separately from Château Lafite before being finally included. The name of Carruades is then taken again for the second wine of Château Lafite, it is first called "Moulin des Carruades" then "Carruades de Lafite" since the 1980 years.
